Consultation and Treatments:

All appointments begin with time for consultation and all treatments begin with some time for physical assessment, which then guides me in what I do therapeutically, treatment-wise.

My work is a unique fusion of Eastern (acupuncture) and Western (traditional manual-practice osteopathy) that I have been studying and practicing for over 30 years, so the “hat” I wear is really a pretty seamless blend of two philosophies and array of modalities — it all feels like one approach to me. This makes my work/approach very unique and quite different from the work of typical acupuncture, if that’s what you are used to. How so? With a typical acupuncture treatment, the practitioner chats with you a bit, does a bit of physical assessment, puts some acupuncture needles in, and then leaves the room — often to get started on someone else, and then goes back and forth between you and other patients. Because of the nature of my work, I am with you the whole time, and thus can only see one person at a time. This allows your treatment to be relaxed and spacious.

If a client does not want acupuncture needles used during their treatment, that’s OK, I can (and often do anyway) do a Japanese style of acupuncture that does not involve inserting needles into the skin, and thus is completely painless. Although regular acupuncture is usually painless as well, because acupuncture needles are solid and extremely thin, but many people new to actupuncture have a strong association with needles being painful because of the much thicker guage and hollow hypodermic needles that are used in biomedical practices for various purposes.

As well, many of the treatments I give do not include acupuncture at all, either because of my choice or if the patient does not want it.

House calls are available (with an additional fee for travel time and bringing a portable treatment table).

Hospital calls are available — please ask about this possibility.

Regular Office Visits: During an office visit, we will discuss your concerns, and you will be given a physical assessment relating to your concerns, then a gentle treatment that is both further diagnostic and therapeutic. Time is allotted at the end to answer any questions you might have.

Treatments are given with the patient fully clothed while they relax on a comfortably padded treatment table in a warm, quiet treatment room. Pillows, bolsters and blankets are available to make sure you are comfortable and warm during your treatment.

For your appointment, please wear comfortable loose-fitting clothes (i.e., not Wrangler/Lee Rider jeans, tight jeans/pants, “skinny”-type pants, stockings, or leggings) that might restrict movement or cannot be rolled up to the knee. Women, please do not wear a dress.

Very Important!! Please, do not wear perfumes or colognes to your appointment.
